The Post Review Follow-Up:

  • 11/12/15 – You can, in a way, adjust the pre-heat on this, but I’m not sure I agree with it’s implementation.  In the manual, they say, “The maximum INITIAL wattage can be adjusted in VT mode”. In practice, these values need to be separate. One value for pre-heat, one value for the maximum wattage applied to the coil to maintain the temp. They don’t work together. Because if it’s JUST the initial wattage I’m adjusting, I should be able to set it to 1watt, there would be no preheat, but it would still come up to temp which it does not. So that wattage adjustment in TC not only controls the pre-heat burst, but also the max watts applied to maintain temp. Adjusting down to around 55 watts did smooth things out for me.  This would have been interesting to explore in this video and to see on the scope had I known they did things a little different from the rest AND I didn’t have to adjust the wattage when in temp control in ONE DAMN DIRECTION (LOL). Still think they need to be separate values though. 🙂
  • 11/12/15 – For SS TC, it’s tuned for 304 SS.
  • 11/13/15 – Something I failed to mention in the video is that the V1.3 of the firmware is the same as the V2.0.  The only difference is the screen.  So if you’re having a hard time seeing some of the items on the screen in the V2.0, go back to the V1.3 version as it’s a little easier to see.
