These cells have a different metal can and venting disk from known genuine Sony VTC5A\u2019s but they do have the two \u201cdimples\u201d on top common to all VTC 18650\u2019s and tested as 2528mAh. To date I have never seen a non-VTC cell with these dimples so they might be VTC\u2019s (not VTC5A\u2019s though) or the counterfeitors have gotten better.<\/p>\n

The fakes also have two micro-weld lines under the white top sealing gasket (not the top insulating disk for the wrap) which genuine VTC5A\u2019s do not have. The fakes have a single ring around the battery near the top whereas genuine VTC5A\u2019s have two rings at the top and one flat ring at the bottom. The fakes have a smooth central portion for the venting disk and genuine VTC5A\u2019s have a small \u201cbutton\u201d structure there.<\/p>\n

The physical differences and the crappy performance versus genuine Sony VTC5A\u2019s means they are fakes. DO NOT USE THESE FAKES FOR ANYTHING!<\/p>\n
