Now arts supporters have come up with a new proposal to strengthen public support for the arts in the county and across the state of Ohio. An alliance of four countywide arts organizations is drafting proposed state legislation that would enable county voters to replace the existing per-unit excise tax on cigarettes with a new, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">8<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff9900\"> percent tax on the wholesale price of all tobacco products, including vaping devices<\/span><\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #ffcc00\"><strong>The<\/strong> <strong>new local tax would bring revenues back to where they were in 2007<\/strong><\/span>, the first year in which the levy took effect.
