The retraction stated that \u201cconcerns have been raised regarding the article\u2019s methodology, source data processing, including statistical analysis, and reliability of conclusions.\u201d The <\/span><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\"><strong>study was published in June 2022<\/strong><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-5\">. The 13 co-authors of the study drew from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and analyzed participants\u2019 responses for associations between liver disease and the use of cigarettes or vaping products. They claimed the results showed \u201ce-cigarette users \u2026 were associated with higher odds of having liver disease compared to nonsmokers.\u201d The <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\" data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-6\">data also didn\u2019t allow for analysis around timing<\/span><\/strong><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-7\">, which means it\u2019s <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\" data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-8\">not possible to tell whether liver disease was developed before or after smoking\/vaping<\/span><\/strong><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-9\">. <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-9\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-0-9\">\u201cThis is a greater problem than just one study,\u201d said <\/span><span class=\"xv78j7m\" data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-1-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-1-0\">Gregory Conley<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-2-0\">, director of legislative and external affairs for the American Vapor Manufacturers Association, noting <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-2-1\">a 2020 retraction by the Journal of the American Heart Association of a study connecting vaping to heart attacks<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"a3ouh-2-2\">.
