{"id":6600,"date":"2014-05-27T10:53:39","date_gmt":"2014-05-27T14:53:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/?p=6600"},"modified":"2016-03-24T09:39:30","modified_gmt":"2016-03-24T13:39:30","slug":"30-amp-battery-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/archives\/6600","title":{"rendered":"30(+) AMP BATTERY TESTING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I ran some tests on a few of the newer 30(+) amp rated batteries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jjvapes.com\/Sony-30A-2100mah-18650-Battery_p_608.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Sony VTC4 2100 mAh<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Sony VTC5 2600 mAh (not on their site yet)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jjvapes.com\/Efest-30A-2100mah-18650-Battery_p_553.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Efest 30A 2100 mAh<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jjvapes.com\/EFEST-35A-18650-2500mah_p_611.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Efest 35A 2500 mAh<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Big shout out to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jjvapes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">JJ Vapes<\/a> for supplying the batteries for this testing.<\/p>\n<p>These cells were all discharged and charged again several times (the same amount of times) prior to testing.<\/p>\n<p>Note that I have some of the new Orbtronic SX30 cells on order to add to this test.<\/p>\n<p>I ran two tests.\u00a0 The first is a discharge test.\u00a0 None of the batteries were able a constant 30 Amp draw without dropping below the cutoff voltage for the test.\u00a0 So the test was adjusted to 20 Amps.\u00a0 (Yes, I was surprised by the Efest 35A&#8217;s performance here as well).<\/p>\n<p>You can click on the graphs below to see them larger.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20Watt30ATest.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6598 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20Watt30ATest.jpg\" alt=\"20Watt30ATest\" width=\"552\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20Watt30ATest.jpg 1456w, https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20Watt30ATest-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/20Watt30ATest-1024x481.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second test is a constant load of .2 ohms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2OhmConstantTest.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6599 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2OhmConstantTest.jpg\" alt=\".2OhmConstantTest\" width=\"551\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2OhmConstantTest.jpg 1456w, https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2OhmConstantTest-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tasteyourjuice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/2OhmConstantTest-1024x481.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take from these tests what you will as performance of these cells appears to be very similar.\u00a0 However, to the (my) untrained eye, it appears that that VTC5 did better on the discharge test and the Efest 35A did slightly better on the .2ohm load test.\u00a0 For my money, I&#8217;d go with the Sony VTC5 cell.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone has more insight on the results of these graphs, please contact me.<\/p>\n<p>Note that I can&#8217;t speak to the safety of one cell over the other.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:20px;
