The Post Review Follow-up:

  • 6/30/15 – If you are concerned about it popping out of temp control, there are a couple things you can do.  1) Build your TC coil at .14 ohm or less.  So if it comes out, you’ll get a low resistance warning.  2) When in wattage mode, set your watts really low, so if it pops out, you won’t burn anything up!
  • 6/23/15 – The battery charged up to 5123 mAh:

  • 6/25/15 – Ok gang, here’s something I missed in the review. It was missed because 1) when I was looking at the start/stop pause time on the scope, I was at a high enough wattage where the issue didn’t appear, or appeared as a slight ramp which was mentioned in the review, and 2) when using it in wattage mode, I was at a high enough wattage where is was noticeable, but not that bad for me.Looks like, when in wattage more the eVic-VT has a 30 watt surge when you first fire it after 1) you take your atty off and put it back on, 2) the device goes to sleep after 3 minutes and wakes back up, 3) you power the device off and turn it back on.

I read a bunch of comment in the YouTube video that it was burning people’s liquids and wicks. Finally, after discussing it with Edward Wolff (thanks Ed!!) on Facebook tonight, I decided to have another look.

Ed’s test scenario was a 2.0 Ohm coil set at 6 watts. He said he could “hear” and feel the surge. Sure enough…

    20150624_603231
This image shows the surge. Should be firing at around 3.5V (for 6 watts) yet is surges to 8.16V (around 33 watts) and then ramps down to the accurate setting.

Even set to 1 watt, it does the same thing…

    20150624_605221

Multiple button presses don’t help. It needs time to settle…

    20150624_605142
You can see here when set for higher wattage it becomes easier to miss…

    20150624_605305

It does it for a fair amount of time as well. The full 30+ watt surge lasts around .58 seconds and the total time to go from button press to an accurate setting is around 1.28 seconds…

    20150624_605419
    20150624_605459

I took a look at the .5 ohm, 1 ohm, and 1.5 as well. All peaking around 30 watts…

    20150624_612656
    20150624_612736
    20150624_612820

Now, if you vape at or above 30 watts, it’s something you’ll never notice. Here is is firing 30 watts after a power cycle against a 1 ohm load. No issue…

    20150624_613607
This has to change the overall rating from a “wait” to a thumbs down. Hopefully this is something they can resolve quickly and take care of those who are unhappy with the product due to this issue.

  • 6/3/15 – The stickers are not for the drip tip, but rather the battery for where it shows through the cut-out on the battery cover.
  • 6/3/15 – I’ve confirmed with Kanger that the drip tips I received in my kit are shorter than the final production version and the kits will include two matching color tips… a white tip and a black tip for the white version, a red tip and a black tip for the black version.

In this video we do some shots, take a full look at the iPV4, find out who won the last contest, and kick off a new one!

NOTE – Lot’s of official PBusardo fuck ups in this video.

1) Wrong product in upper right corner.
2) Edit mess in the thumbs up thumbs down section.
3) Wrong contest end date, unless you take your time machine back to enter the contest. Correct date is the 31st of May.

What can I say… I’m only near perfect. 🙂 Sorry gang.

THE SX-MINI M-CLASS BY YIHI REVIEW

A PBusardo Review – SX Mini M Class Part 1 & 2

In Part 1 we talk about temp control, some of me experiences with it, take a look at the SX-Mini M-Class top to bottom and compare it to the original, see the differences in the menu, and briefly discuss the numbers and signal for wattage mode. We then kick off looking at the device in temp mode with a discussion about Joules. Ahhhh the Joules!!!

In Part 2 we see just how the SX-Mini M-Class is doing temp limiting as compared to the DNA-40 and do our thumbs up and down.

We also announce the winner of the last contest.

The Post-Review Follow-up:

  • I tried to make it evident in the video that the tech itself is having a hard time with the different static resistances of different attys which is causing temperature A not be temperature A on atty B.  🙂  I agree it wasn’t well stated.  So yes, I’m well aware that it’s the inherent static resistances of different attys which is causing the need for substantially different temperature settings.
  • I used the term PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) in the video. A more accurate term would have been PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation). I’ll be sure to use this term in the future. The old dog can learn new tricks. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out for me!
  • The section of me weighing the device on video made the cutting room floor. This is what happens when you’re editing at 4AM. 🙂 The original SX-Mini w/battery is 195.7 grams.  The M-Class w/battery is 264.7 grams.
  • Someone pointed out something in the YouTube comments and I agree.  Another thumbs up with this device, especially as I begin to look at more temp limiting devices, is the recommended resistance for a temp control coil of .065 Ohms.  This is a much more realistic resistance to work with when using NI200. due to it’s extremely low resistance.  In other words, I don’t have to do a 30 wrap coil.  🙂
  • Thanks for all the questions and comments. I’ll do my best to answer them all.
