SEVIA USA RESPONDS TO THE FDA DEEMING REGULATIONS

The FDA Deeming Regulations were published on May 10th 2016. The effect on vaping will be dramatic for the industry as well as consumers who depend on these products to stay off combustible tobacco.

The Shenzhen Electronic Vaporizer Industry Association (SEVIA) USA, the nation’s only association representing Chinese manufacturers Aspire, Innokin, Kanger and Smok today pledges support to defend the vaping industry from the onerous and burdensome FDA deeming regulations.

We believe in fair, reasonable regulations to protect the consumers however the current frame of regulation introduced by the agency will eliminate 99% of e-liquid and hardware manufacturers and also eliminate freedom of choice for vapers and millions of smokers that might not have the chance to switch from deadly combustible tobacco.

As an association we are currently going to assist the Right 2 Be Smoke Free Coalition in challenging the unconstitutional federal law affecting the vaping industry. They will play a key role in organizing and funding industry activities. We believe the FDA regulations should be contested and legally challenged

You can contribute to become a member of the Right 2 Be Smoke Free Coalition HERE.

We also want to express our support for the Cole/Bishop amendment which we believe is the essential first step to saving the industry by moving the predicate date from February 2007 to the effective date of the deeming regulations.

Moving the grandfather date will keep companies alive, allow every vapor company (small or large) to continue to sell their existing products without having to file costly applications and keep our industry alive while we develop legislative strategies to save our industry.

See the “Cole-Bishop is the Essential First Step to Saving Vapor” VTA Guidance Document HERE.

We will also financially support on the national level various organizations such as CASAA and AVA and others so they can continue to fight for consumers and industry.

This is an open invitation to all Chinese manufacturers that want to continue to offer their products on the market. SEVIA USA and it’s founding members are committed to offer their resources to fight back and we ask the industry to join us. These FDA regulations are far over reaching government authority. But most importantly they are detrimental to public health and the safety of the consumer. If we as manufacturers find out there is an issue with our products on August 7th and want to make changes to improve and protect the consumer, the proposed regulations would prohibit us from doing so. Innovation and improvement would come to a complete stop. You can see how these regulations actually introduce safety concerns that would not otherwise have been present if we were permitted to make improvements without pre-market authorization.

The battle begins now, united we stand!

SOME RESPONSE ON THE ADONIS REVIEW FROM ARCTIC DOLPHIN

I always enjoy when a manufacturer looks at a negative review as a learning experience rather than an attack. Here are some responses from Arctic Dolphin following the review of the Adonis.

You’ll notice plenty of misspelled words here.  On the device, it’s no excuse, but here… let’s just say their English is far better than my Chinese.

We have improved some of the issues u mentioned in the review while others will be imoproved soon! Will keep you updated.

Regarding the mis-spelt word–Smork, we have improved already. Will send you pic.

new vaping times

Screen is little small and difficult to read.: we design the screen size based on the actual size of the device. By checking the size of Adonis, you wil found that the frame is narrow so the sreen size is as big as possile. Well, we will make much bigger screen for our new stabilized wood box mod with single 26650 battery.

Cannot read the cool atomizer resistance: we found you do not change new atomizer once you re-on the device after firing. Nomally, the device will read it as an old atomizer as you do not change the atomizer so that is why it read hot atomizer resistant not cool resistance.

Cannot turn on the device: The frame is aerospace aluminum by anodizing to realize insulation function. Black and silver color are both made by anodizing. The anodizing liquid has the insulation function. The battery negative pole conduct electricity by the frame. Once the anodizing insulating liquid inflowed into the battery cover thread then there will be problem for electro -conduction. That is the reason why u cannot turn on or turn off the device. The samples u received from us, considring that maybe we will scratch the frame during lathing the thread so we lathe the thread firstly but there will be problem that the anodizing insolation liquid will inflow into the battery cover thread. Now we finally found a good solution to settle this issue to avoid the scratch on the frame even we will make the black frame firstly then lathe the thread. There will be no100% or 50% failure rate. Moreover, once u cover the battery cover, u need to tighten the thread as far as possile.

At last, we love your review very much and you are the most respectable reviewer in vaping industry. Thanks for your time on our product reivew.

THE HCIGAR VT200 FIRST LOOK…

The Hcigar VT200 came in today.  As I mentioned before, this will be part of the DNA-200 review video and device comparison.

The Hcigar website was down at the time of this post, but expect to pay around $170 for this piece.

No magnetic door on this one, but replacing the battery is going to be easier than with the Shark.  This one has the balance plug plugged into the body and the mains are connected via an easy to get at XT30 connector.

This one feels solid if not a little hefty.  The stripes down the side could be done a little better and feel sharp in the hand.  The Shark has the size advantage coming in the smallest of the three.

The buttons feel good on the VT200, but don’t give you as much feedback nor feel as positive as with the Shark.  If I were to rate button feel it would be…

  1. Vapor Shark DNA-200
  2. VT200
  3. Opus 200

If I were to rate batteries:

  1. VT200 – 1300 mAh battery, user serviceable, mains connected via XT30 connector
  2. Opus 200 – 1000 mAh battery, mains hard wired (even with the additional 100 mAh of the Opus over the Shark, the hard wiring of the mains may bump this rating down for you)
  3. Shark DNA-200 – 900 mAh battery, user serviceable, mains connected via banana plugs under heat shrink tubing

Some photos of the device itself, the battery compartment, and comparison photos for you…

TAKE A LOOK – THE PHANTOM SUB-OHM TANK BY HORIZON

THE PHANTOM SUB-OHM TANK BY HORIZON

Oh Boy!  Another one!  This one from the folks who bought you the Arctic.

The cuts in this one make it as rough on your hands as it is on the eyes, IMHO of course.

Now I’m not sure who bit who, but this one looks very similar to the Triton.  Similar SS coil heads and a virtually identical RBA section (right down to the included wrap tool).  Like I said, not sure who bit who, but someone is doing some biting.  😉

On the full size, you do get side filling with a nice big port.

Some additional information:

Horizon Phantom tank utilizes an all new proprietary center system that revolutionizes the way we vape. It is made up of 4 different operational parts. The liquid recycle chamber recycles unused liquid back to the coil.

Vapor travel through the vents on the sides of the baffle then proceeds through the liquid recycling chamber. As vapor travels through the chamber the surface area goes from very small to large, this causes any excess condensation to collect in the chamber and be filtered down the side walls. When enough liquid collects in the chamber gravity causes it to be fed back down onto the coil thus being recycled. (Mmmm… backwash 🙂 )

Full Size:

  • 22mm Diameter
  • 304 Stainless Steel Construction
  • High Quality Glass Tank Section
  • 5ml Tank Capacity (full size)
  • 3.5ml Tank Capacity (Micro)
  • Two Chamber Liquid Storage (full size)
  • Mechanical Cooling System
  • Liquid Recycling System
  • Splash Proof System
  • Middle or bottom fill (full size)
  • Bottom fill (micro)
  • 316 Stainless Steel BTDC (Bottom Turbine Dual Coil)  Sub-Ohm Coil Design
  • Japanese Organic Cotton
  • Widebore Stainless Steel 510 Drip Tip
  • Rebuildable Head Included

Both Include:

  • One Phantom Sub-Ohm Tank by Horizon
  • One 316 Stainless Steel BTDC Sub-Ohm Coil, .2 ohm (Pre-Installed)
  • One RBA Head
  • Estimate around $35.00 for this tank

MORE NEW STUFF FROM INNOKIN…

Looks like this company is on a bit of a roll.  I think they hit it out of the park with the Coolfire IV (I’m sure the Cool Fire III will be amazing too 🙂 ).  They’ve announced temp control with all wire types (I’ll believe that when I test it).  Now they’re announcing their new “Slide & Click” InnoCell system.

I’ve heard the Slide & Click cells will also compatible with cordless drills, blenders, small yard equipment, and Dimitris’… well, you know.   😉

Here’s some more information:

The Innokin Disrupter is the latest high powered advanced personal vaporizer and it is the first device to utilize Innokin’s revolutionary InnoCell Vaping Power System LiPo replaceable battery technology.

Safety is at the forefront of Innokin’s vision for a better future and device, battery and charging safety will continue to be one of the most important issues facing the international vaping industry.

With the goal of building a better, safer vaping power technology, our teams of engineers worked tirelessly to create a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery that’s better than the 18650; a goal that we are extremely happy to have accomplished with the launch of the Innokin Disrupter and InnoCell LiPo Battery.

The InnoCell is a compact high-quality LiPo battery pack with advanced integrated safety features like automatic short-circuit shut off, low voltage reserve and a much longer lifespan with an average of more than 300 charge & discharge cycles – at least 30% more than a standard 18650!

The InnoCell is charged via standard Micro-USB for maximum convenience and also features Innokin’s trusted ‘Vape-While Charging’ pass-through technology to ensure that your vape will always be ready.

The InnoCell will initially be available in 2000mAh and other capacities, with larger packs planned for the future. All are compatible with the Innokin InnoCell Slide’n’Click system; simply choose the charged InnoCell in the color that you like best and ‘Slide & Click’ the InnoCell securely into place to power a day of vaping.

Our dedicated teams continue to strive to lead the way in making the best advanced personal vaporizers available in world today and we appreciate all of the support from our friends, associates and valued customers around the world. With the launch of the Innokin Disrupter and the new Innokin InnoCell LiPo battery we are proud that Innokin once again introduces a new vaporizer technology with the goal of building a better future.

They are estimating these systems will be available mid-July.  No word on pricing yet.

IPV4 – CHARGE PORT UPDATE

I’ve talked to Pioneer4You and a couple other contacts and according to them, the charge port on this device is done properly and safe:

Q) Why that charge port again?
A) We use a 9V charge port here, all of the problems happened in v3 were solved now.

Q) Are the batteries in series or parallel?
A) The batteries are in series.

Q) Why no included charge cable?
A) Because the cost would be to high.

Q) Is it safe to use the charger?
A) It’s a safe charger.

Q) Is it a balanced charger?
A) It’s a balanced charger.

Q) Why no USB charging?
A) As the batteries are in series on the charging design, we need a 9V charger, but there is only 5V on USB port, it’s not enough good for our charging design.

Q) Why is this port being used again if it was deemed unsafe and removed from the IPV3?
A) As we have solved all of the problems on v3, we use this port again, it’s absolutely safe

Q) How many amps can you charge it at?
A) You can use a 2A charger to charge the batteries.

I’m doing a little torture testing on my own to validate this. If it passes, I’ll move ahead with the review.

TO MY FRIENDS AT ASPIRE!! THANK YOU!

To Tony, Kiki, and the rest of my friends at Aspire.  Thank you so much for the friendship tree.  I’m honored that you would think of me for this.  I just wished I could have been there to help you plant it.

Actually, I would have had Dimitris dig the hole.  I would have just directed him where to dig it!  🙂

Thanks so much!!
