NEW IN THE QUEUE

Every now and then I get something that surprises me and exceeds my expectations so let me start off this New In The Queue with a couple comments about the V3 .50 Cal from V3tronix.

Now, it does have some funky configurations and it may not be one you’ll want to take to the air port and try to get past TSA ;-), but what is does have is some of the finest machining I’ve seen. Not to mention a bottom button with a lock done right. Very impressive gentlemen.

Vendor

So as you know I get a SHIT TON (by the way, that’s 1 metric ton with a pile of shit on top of it) of spam emails from Chinese Resellers & Manufacturers trying to sell me product thinking I’m a vendor. As I’ve tried to tell them MANY times in the past, I’M NOT A VENDOR! Yet the emails continue. The Subject line in the latest spam email was funny enough to share. Although I give them a lot of credit for trying to communicate with me in my native language (I certainly couldn’t do the same for them) the language barrier does sometimes have funny results…

SMOKTECH MAGNITO FIRST LOOK

WOW. This is an impressive piece for $49.99. This one came in from Sun-Vapers.

Looks to me like an N-Zonic clone, right down to the magnetic switch. Hopefully it will function as well as it looks.

Smoktech did miss the mark, however, with the non-adjustable center pin. This was a huge bummer for me when I noticed it.

SOFT BEATS OUT CRUNCHY? SERIOUSLY??

I know taste is subjective, but COME ON! Soft edged out crunchy by a score of 124 to 119 (do I really need to make a chart). Personally, I’m a crunchy guy!

More reviews coming soon!

Please don’t forget that this site Tweets updates out, but I don’t nor do I respond. So if you’ve respond to a Tweet, please don’t think I’m an a-hole for not answering.

Also, I haven’t been on the forums very much so if you’d like to shoot me a question please use pbusardo@tasteyourjuice.com. That’s not a knock against forums, it’s simply a limitation of my time which is in the red at this point due to this effort.

A NIGHT WITH THE FC2000 CERAMIC WICK

So my experience with the FC2000 ceramic with for genesis attys has been a challenge.  First several attempts ended in cracked wicks.  The next attempt, using the Petar K method give me a wick that fit too loosely in the coil.  This time, rather than adjusting the bit size for the wrap, I decided to wrap the wick directly outside of the device.

I torched the Kanthal (28, A-1) first to get rid of some of the springiness and so that any expansion would occur before it was wrapped.

Here it is in the DID and firing nicely… ok so it ain’t too pretty.

For the next step, while trimming the Kanthal, insert the wire into your thumb.  You can skip this step if you like.

Unfortunately the wick was a little high, so when the cap went on, crack it went.

Here’s the proof:

One more time…

Seems to be working ok.  Not great, not bad, but I need more time with it.  Also note that I’m started this little experiment with a very thin liquid, damn near watery.

I’ll keep you posted, but for now, back to the Groove evaluation.

SERIOUS SIDE BY SIDE VAPING – NIGHT TWO

A new clearo was added to the mix.  After trying out another T3 and validating it was no better or worse than the one used previously, it was modded (UGH!!).  The top wick was removed and the silicon cap flipped.  Question, why are people flipping the caps?  Once flipped they appear to do nothing.   Why not either remove them, or notch then?  Anywho…

  1. The T3 (unmodified out of the box received from LJ E-Smokes) on an AnyVape
  2. The iClear on a Sigelei Z-Max
  3. The Boge on a Smoktech Z-Max
  4. The Vivi Nova on an eVic
  5. A modified T3 on the VAMO.

A scene from “The Chair”…

  • The unmodified T3 even with a two day soak is still producing a plasticy taste.  Better than night one, but still unacceptable.  It was put aside.
  • The iClear did a lot of intense “popping” on night two.  The taste was still good, but not enough of it.  It was put aside.
  • The Vivi Nova started producing a slightly burnt flavor when compared to the others.  Did I get “bad head” again?  Damn!  I may need to try another head.
  • The carto tank.  It just works!  Still a fully saturated and enjoyable vape!
  • The modified T3 kicked in pretty quick.  MUCH better than the unmodified version.  I also noticed it putting out a tremendous amount of vapor.  Still slightly plasticy, but not enough to get in the way of an enjoyable vape.

Night two summary

So after night two, can I ask you a question?  Is it ok to like more than one device?  Let me answer it for you.  Of course it is!

I received a wonderful, satisfying vape from the devices I narrowed it down to which were the carto tank, the Vivi Nova, and the modified T3.

The carto tank just works.  A rich, fully saturated vape, and completely position independent.  Just pick it up and vape.  Of course you have to get your punching or slotting right for your liquid.

The Vivi Nova is easy to clean, easy to fill, and easy to change liquids.  Of course you may get an occasional bad head and you have to tilt.

The T3 is position independent and provides a good vape if not slightly plasticy.  Of course you have to modify it to get it that way.

Next test will be to change the flavor on them.  I want to see how will then pick up the new flavor without cleaning and just see if I notice all the same things with a different flavor.

An interesting thing did happen to me.  I had another mod sitting next to me that wasn’t in the photo.  I grabbed it without looking and thought it was a clearo.  I vaped it without tilting and it provided 3 nice clean vapes.  When I looked at it I was surprised to see that it was the mini DID.   Hmmm….

Eventually folks we’re going to get something that we can just fill and go.   We’re not going to have to worry about tilting and tipping, not worry about modifying, not worry about burnt, plasticy, or poor taste, not worry about oxidizing and wrapping, and not worry about inconsistency.  We’re getting there, but IMHO, we’re not there yet.

THE SPRING HAS SPRUNG – WARNING POTENTIAL VAMO SPRING ISSUE!!

Let me start off by saying this…

Attention Manufacturers… PROPER TESTING WILL AVOID SUCH ISSUES!

Thank you.

Ok, here’s the deal.  The Vamo has a potential spring issue.   The one I used in the review had, what I believe, was the original thin spring.  Note that I did not, nor do I receive ANY heat from the bottom cap.

People were having issues with that spring (rattly batteries) so they replaced it with a beefier one.  That spring may have an issue.

Is yours effected?  I honestly don’t know.  The post was found on Health Cabin relating to what they call the Bamboo which is a Vamo. Could the issue just be related to units purchased there? Again, I don’t know. I’m just passing along what I’ve heard.

This is one of the problems with all these versions and revisions coming out without proper in-lab, alpha, beta, and field testing and it really needs to stop. A properly tested and rock solid device should be far more important than rushing something to market.

So… if you are experiencing ANY heat from the bottom cap… STOP USING IT and contact your vendor regarding the issue.  Here is the post as seen on Health Cabin…

Dear customers,
We are very sorry to inform you that we discontinue selling eGo Bamboo APV(Stainless/Chrome/Black Chrome) for a while because the big wide spring in the cap has big resistance, which makes the Bamboo cap very hot when Bamboo is working, especially when Bamboo works at a high Voltage or Wattage with a low resistance atomizer.  We are working on new good springs with low resistances and expect to get new springs ready in some days.
We will resume selling the products  and their caps when the new springs are ready.
If you have Bamboos with the wider big wrong springs, please stop using the products and contact us by ticket system.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
If you have any questions or need any assistance, please feel free to let us know by using Help Desk and submiting a ticket.
We look forward to always being able to serve you better.
